Abstract

Economic development aimed at improving community well-being requires not only expanded economic activity but also effective protection of economic rights and legal certainty that enable people to participate fairly in economic activities. This study examines the effects of economic rights protection and legal certainty on economic inclusion and Maq??id al-Shar??ah-based community well-being, while testing the mediating role of economic inclusion. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research design was employed. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 96 respondents, with the sample size determined using the Lemeshow technique and respondents selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument consisted of 46 indicators measuring economic rights protection, legal certainty, economic inclusion, and Maq??id al-Shar??ah-based well-being. Data were analyzed using regression analysis and bootstrapping to examine direct and indirect effects. The results show that economic rights protection and legal certainty positively affect economic inclusion. Both variables also have positive effects on Maq??id al-Shar??ah-based community well-being, while economic inclusion positively affects well-being. Furthermore, economic inclusion functions as a mediating mechanism in the relationships between economic rights protection, legal certainty, and community well-being. These findings indicate that Maq??id al-Shar??ah-based well-being is shaped not only by economic activity but also by legal institutions that provide protection, certainty, and inclusive economic access. This study contributes to Islamic economic development literature by integrating legal institutions, economic inclusion, and Maq??id al-Shar??ah within an empirical framework.
